The standard concrete grinding process is a process performed in certain stages and sequences. Thereby making the job easier and achieving the highest efficiency when construction. The process of polishing concrete floors is usually divided into the following 5 main steps:
Step 1: Grinding the concrete floor, handling the protrusions and defects on the floor surface.
Step 2:Grinding to create the necessary smoothness for the concrete floor.
Step 3: Strengthening with chemicals
Step 4:Continue to polish the concrete floor with a high-end polishing machine and a suitable floor grinding disc.
Step 5: Check, handle and fix the incomplete points of the work. Once completed, hand over to the customer.
We will go deeper into the steps outlined above to proceed with grinding and polishing concrete floors. So that you can have a preliminary grasp of the sequential process from which to draw experience for construction.
Step 1: Determine whether the concrete to be ground is exposed to aggregate or sand polished.
Grinding out aggregates
-It is a form of grinding that reveals details such as stones and gravel inside the concrete. Along with that, it is combined with floor polishing to have a beautiful concrete surface and the presence of aesthetic details such as gravel inside naturally.
-If it is a freshly poured concrete foundation, we start grinding with the head number 30 to grind to reveal the aggregate, revealing the hidden gravel inside.
-If the concrete floor is old, uneven, or has an old layer of epoxy paint rolling on it. We need to proceed to demolish the floating, protruding and protruding mounds and break the old epoxy paint above with the 16# steel floor grinding disc. Then use the 30# head to smooth the concrete surface before smoothing the concrete floor in the next steps.
Sandblasting
- Sand grinding is called by many different names such as: polishing concrete floors, polishing floors, ... But according to experts, this is sand grinding.
-For the sandblasting concrete floor polishing process, it is somewhat simpler, we only need 1 operation that is to use a 30# grinding disc to remove a layer on the surface, as well as pre-flatten the surface for fine grinding in the following steps.
Step 2: Remove large scratches created by the 30# grinding disc in step 1
-Using large, high-speed industrial floor grinders and sequential grinding discs of 50 #, 80 # to grind to erase the large scratches that the 30# head has created. before when we proceed to grind.
-The 50# and 80# grinding discs are not fine grinding discs and still cause scratches on the concrete surface. However, it fades the large scratches caused by the 30# head, the purpose of this step is to create moderate scratches before stepping into smoothing the concrete in the following steps.
In addition, this step also reduces wear on subsequent fine grinding discs. In order to save the cost of buying discs and increase the gloss for the concrete floor after construction. Please be very careful at this point.
Step 3: Smooth the surface of the concrete floor with larger numbers
-Use the floor grinder in turn with the grinding discs with the head numbers 100#, 150# and 200# 250#. To remove the large scratches above and slowly smooth the surface of the concrete floor.
-For optimal construction efficiency and minimize the amount of dirt discharged when grinding concrete floors with the above grinding discs. We recommend grinding in combination with water. Or imported waxes, waxes that support concrete floor polishing to minimize the amount of dirt and increase the smoothness for polishing concrete floors.
-Grinding the 250# grinding disc with water 2 3 times to remove all previous large scratches created on the concrete floor surface to proceed to harden the floor surface in the next steps of the polishing process. Standard concrete floor polish.
-Use the hand grinder to continue grinding the corners, base of the wall, the foot of the column to conduct cleaning.
Step 4: Clean the concrete floor before applying chemical coating
-Using a large industrial vacuum cleaner, collects and sucks all the dirt and dirty water discharged on the floor surface during construction.
- Collect all materials and construction materials on the floor surface to conduct chemical coating on the concrete surface in the next step.
Step 5: Spray deco or hardener
-Spray a sufficient amount of chemical on the surface of the concrete floor. With deco floor hardener, we have a plan to use 20l / 600m2. For other chemicals, ask the seller, the supplier how much it intends to use when buying.
-If using deco hardener, after spraying chemicals on the surface, we need to wait from 12-24 hours for the chemical to fully penetrate to the surface of the concrete floor to be polished.
Step 6: Polish the concrete floor
-The concrete floor polishing step is a simple step, this step depends on the requirements of the customer to be executed. If the customer requires a high gloss, we use the numbers from small to large in turn: 400# 500# 800# 1000# 1500# 2000# until the customer's requirements are met, then stop.
-Note for the floor to have the highest gloss in this step, we need to conduct dry grinding. It is recommended to combine with deco concrete floor polishing chemicals and floor polishing machines to increase the gloss of the floor surface during the polishing process.
